About Ken

KenSince stepping down as the  senior pastor at Mandeville’s First Baptist Church in Mandeville, Louisiana, in November 2017, Ken Schroeder has continued to serve in pastoral ministry. After more than 23 years at Mandeville’s First Baptist, Ken transitioned into serving the Lord and His church in several ways. Currently Ken serves as the Transitional Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hammond, LA.

Ken grew up on a farm just outside of Burkburnett, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Gayla, in 1975. They have four married children and seven grandchildren.

Ken graduated from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas, (BSE, 1982) and MidwesternStatelogoSouthwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, (MDiv, 1985, DMin,1989).index Ken writes Bible study materials regularly for LifeWay Christian Resources. In the past few years, he has traveled in West Africa, East Asia, Belize, Greece, Turkey, and Israel.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Ken and his son, Travis, started a home improvement business in 2019 called Schroeder and Sons Construction, LLC. Ken has also added another responsibility to his already busy schedule by accepting a teaching position at Fontainebleau Junior High as a science teacher.

Other stuff that might interest you (or maybe it won’t): Since 2004 Ken has been knownBulldogs as the “voice of Bulldogs” at Fontainebleau High School serving as the announcer for football, volleyball, basketball, and baseball. He also announces minor league football Bayou Lacombe Cardinalsgames for the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals of the Xtreme South Football League, which plays a spring season each year.
