About Ken

KenKen Schroeder served as senior pastor at Mandeville’s First Baptist Church in Mandeville, Louisiana, from June 1994 until November 2017. Ken grew up on a farm just outside of Burkburnett, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Gayla, in 1975. They have four married children and six grandchildren.

While waiting for his next God-given assignment, Ken continued to preach most Sundays and prepared a message each week in a current series. In so doing, he could maintain his regular discipline of prayerful study for preaching in the manner he found to be most effective.

Ken also continued to prepare for the next phase of his ministry by exploring opportunities in associational missions and in training to be a transitional pastor at a LifeWay event held in Prattville, Alabama, in April. The Ebenezer Baptist Church on River Road near Hammond, Louisiana, called Ken to become its Transitional Pastor on June 3.

Ken graduated from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas, (BSE, 1982) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, (MDiv, 1985, DMin,1989).index Ken writes Bible study materials regularly for LifeWay Christian Resources. In the past few years, he has traveled in West Africa, East Asia, Belize, Greece, Turkey, and Israel.

Other stuff that might interest you (or maybe it won’t): Since 2004 Ken has been known as the “voice of Bulldogs” at Fontainebleau High School serving as the announcer for football, volleyball, basketball, and baseball. He also announces semi-professional football games for the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals of the Xtreme South Football League. He enjoys remodeling their home and working in the yard, and he’s basically given up playing golf to do it.Bulldogs
